Pilates Youth Program (PYP)
Join the PYP Committee to learn how this program is developing. Having completed more than five years of pilot programs where Pilates classes were given to 5th grade students (10 year olds) for ten to twelve week periods, (with measurements in balance, strength and flexibility taken before and after the classes), the PMA is now producing a manual, curriculum and research protocol for Pilates teachers who wish to work with young people. A child’s developing skeleton responds differently to certain movements as compared to adults. There are age related precautions that are essential components of any Pilates program for individuals under 18. These are imperative for teachers to implement in order to work safely and effectively with young people of varying age groups. Learn about this and much more!
